Poetry

In the following poetic offerings, I consider them to be used not only as Poetry, but also Praises as well as Psalms. In the structure of Psalms, there is no rhyme. A praise to the Lord can be meshed into one body of words. Therefore, you may read them in the manner you so choose.

TRUST IN GOD

We should bide our time with Godly things,
for no one knows what the 'morrow brings.
We know not where our fortune lies,
Since we only see with human eyes.

We stumble and fall when we go it alone,
Without realizing we all must atone.
Suspended on earth, we blindly forge on,
unaware of the dangers we are forced upon.

When we turn to God and ask for guidance,
He'll answer our plea with swift compliance.
So pray to God, kneel down and pray,
And let Him hear from you everyday.

For when we trust in God, at least we'll know,
He'll guide us safely, wherever we go.

MY PATH IS NOT NEARER

When I look into the darkness,
I see that I'm alone.
I know from whence I came,
but ahead of me is not home.
I seem to be drifting
further and further from you.
My path is not as narrow
as the one you summon me to.
Lord, guide my way in all that I do.
I am asking for your forgiveness.
Please lead me back unto your fold
from a life that's dark and listless.
As I turned to follow Him,
I see now what I lacked.
My Lord, with open arms outstretched
inviting me: Son, Come On Back.

DRAW US NEARER

God of power and God of light,

remove the darkness of our plight.

Instill in us your Holy ways

and guide us safely through each day.

Your love and grace sustains us through

our daily prayers we lift  to you.

Lead us on that journey long,

for this narrow path will make us strong.

Turn us back toward the cross.

Once we stray, our souls are lost.

At the cross, Lord, draw us nearer.

There, your message will be clearer.

Keep us steady through daily prayer.

Enfold us in your loving care.

We pray this day for wisdom true

in all we say and all we do.

AMEN.

ANOTHER PATH

I drifted away.

He drew me back.

I turned away,

as a matter of fact.

 I walked away.

He never moved.

The path I took

 was not approved.

 I took that path

and journeyed alone.

 Never looking to Him

 was ever condoned.

Once I figured it out,

 I was miles away.

Yet, somehow I knew

 He would always say:

"My son, I am here for you.

 My arms are opened wide.

You need not be afraid,

 I'll pull you close inside."

And so I said:

"My Father, here I am,

not worthy to be your son.

 I've stumbled and have fallen.

Not doing what ought to be done."

But like the loving Father He is,

He welcomed me in, as one of His.

OUR SAVIOR WEEPS

Why do we cause our Savior to weep?

Our actions and words, they surely cut deep.

Our sins are like arrows that pierce through His heart.

Our neglect of His love we're quick to impart.

His arms are waiting, they're opened up wide.

He wants to pull us closer inside.

Selfish pleasures.......they soon fade away.

But God's love for us, forever will stay.

Throw away your arrogance, your pride and your sins.

Come unto the Father, He'll welcome you in.

THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED

Fear not, for the Lord is at hand.

He will hasten your blessings many-fold.

Trust in Him for He will never perish.

   His mercies are innumerable.

   His love is fathomless.

  Lean on His everlasting power.

Let not doubt prevail in your heart.

Stand true and just for Him.

Travel not the easy road to despair.

Follow only the straight and narrow

while you take up your cross.

Bear down with all your might and forge on

while keeping your eyes to the Lord.

For you will be blessed on your journey

  down the road less traveled.

TIME

From the moment we're born to the moment we die,

our existence on earth is measured by time.

What we do with that time is up to us all.

We may put it to good use by following God's call,

or we could waste it by selfish pleasure and greed,

thus wasting our lives thru sins, both word and deed.

God measures us by the things that we've done,

and for the person that we have become.

For quality is the one measurable fact

that we should strive to keep intact.

Yes, wasteful time doesn't  mean a thing

if you come to God with nothing to bring.

OUR TIME

Time is never guaranteed.

Tomorrow is never promised.

Take the time we presently enjoy

to bless our creator.

Sing His praises on high.

Count the harvest of bountiful gifts

from the Lord.

For His favor is forever, spilling forth

 upon our humble prayers.

Out utmost attempt to ease a brother's

afliction is a blessing to God.

With this time we are graciously given,

let us make an impact on someone's life,

 to the glory of God.

Our time is not really our time.

 It is God's.

FAITH

Faith.

Faith in ourselves.

Faith in others.

Faith in God.

Faith in tomorrow.

For Faith will bring about power..... and power, change.

It has been said that: "Faith in the future gives power to the present."

With faith, we must strive to change the future.

If we neglect that faith, we have no power to survive the present.

God gives us that faith to use to the best of our abilities.

We are a strong people, and with faith, our strength, in unity

Will change our tomorrows, forever.

COMMUNION

To the Lord's Table, we all should come

to partake of his flesh and drink of his blood.

 Come one and come all.

 No repentance too small.

Let's join at the table this Sunday, come all.

Come, bring your sister and also your brother.

Let's all come together to commune with each other.

Each race, each creed, and each nationality

from every country and each principality

will join in the presence of God's solidarity.

The bread and the wine, we humbly receive,

the meaning it brings, we'll always believe.

Up to the cross, our hearts we will raise

while praying to God with our paraphrase.

His answers will lead us today, and always.

THE DOOR INTO HEAVEN

Lord, dying is the final act.

An act we have lived all our lives.

Through our lives choices present themselves,

Some good, some bad.

Our earthly choices determine

Our hereafter reality.

But by trusting and believing in Thee,

It will bring about contentment and assurance.

By not believing in Thee draws the blueprint for disaster.

As we search our souls and choose his righteous path,

That exit door of bodily death

Will become the spiritual door into heaven.

KNOWLEDGE

Of the gifts that your mother and father pass on,

Knowledge is the power from within.

Use it with great discipline and grace.

Carry it with you like a golden staff.

Never abandon or forsake it

for it will justly abandon you.

Honor the knowledge that is given freely.

Honor the bearers from whom it was given.

Carry it with you until journey's end.

LET GOD SPEAK

Let God speak.

His path of wisdom will lead my way.

 I need to listen.

Be subservient to His word.

My master and creator.

Heed His message.

Follow His word, do His will.

I will better myself by it.

For he is God.

I am not.

BURDEN

What weight do we bare?

Burden of sin is no match for the cross.

Left there, Jesus will gather the load

And shoulder the affliction.

For his grace and mercy is sovereign

Throughout this life and the next.

Trust him to relieve our sin-filled burdens.

WHEN

When we believe

We flourish in His love.

 When we obey

We reap His benefits.

When we talk to Him

We gain wisdom and truth.

When we follow His word

We draw that much closer to him.

When we rejoice in his name

He is filled with our joy.

When we suffer in anguish

He is there caring for us.

When we weep from despair

 He weeps with us.

 Because we believe.

 When we die,

We live.

GOD HEALS

Through pain come relief.

Through sorrow comes joy.

Through God comes love.

And through death,

Believing in Jesus,

Comes life.

Who knows God's powers?

Who understands?

We search our mind for answers

And our heart for truth.

And what we do know is:

Through a broken spirit God heals

And through His grace, we live.

LEARN

I have much to learn about myself.

Things God already knows.

Traits I need to explore in depth.

We are capable of committing the same

sin we are eager to point out in our neighbors.

Only by the grace of God are we

spared that improbability.

To turn my focus inward is a necessary evil.

Needing to scrape at the cancer of my sin

should be my promise to my Lord.

I ask Him now for strength in this quest.

GIVE

God implores us to give.

Be it money, time, talent or possessions.

Do not give to get.

No gain is reached by receiving.

I doth give in the name of God.

Presenting tithes is presenting one's self.

Self joy through which giving provides.

Our Father is our blessed provider.

 Blessed gifts, abundant giving.

Blessed Savior, all forgiven.

Give through love,

 Give through God.

God gives through us.

PATIENCE

Be patient.

God's will works in His time,

 Not ours.

God presents us with times of inconvenience

To teach us His patience.

Let not our will be done,

But Gods.

For His patience allows His children

To stop and listen to Him.

Hear Him calling?

He calls to us daily.

Have patience, listen for God.

He wants to talk with you.

THE CHURCH

Laity summons commitment

Commitment to God's ministry.

To serve the Lord with gladness

must start with you and me.

The church is not only mortar and brick.

It is not stained glass and wood.

The church is built with Christian love

from hearts so pure and good.

From the cornerstone's edge

to the top of the steeple.

The Church's foundation

is the strength of its people.

LET NOT

Let not a friend weep in dispair.

Let not his hurt overshadow the day.

Comfort him in words of consolation,

bringing hope, through love, to his moments of grief.

Let not the face of Jesus hide in your ways.

Show forth His light to an ailing heart.

Unmask His love and compassion through wondrous deeds.

Let not your arms be vacant in a friend's time of distress.

Encompass him against your caring heart,

enfolding him in the arms of Jesus.

Let not another tear be shed.

Bringing fulfillment of joy and peace to him.

with the promise of the love of Jesus, forever.

Let not the love for others become distant.

Let not the love of Jesus ever leave our hearts.

GOD'S GRACE

Resting on the Lord for daily strength.

Trusting in him with nightly confessions.

We open up such wonderment in God's grace.

Lean on the everlasting hope of eternal life.

Never succumb to doubt or anxiety.

Become enthralled with the grace of God.

His grace is more than plentiful to erase all

worldly appetites and selfish longings, forever.

The grace of God is wonderful always.

A MISSION

Daily prayer and meditation invokes

God's mission we are to undertake.

Passion and a strong will are virtues

 of the noble.

Is a mission clear in our mind?

Do we seek the heart of Jesus

as He sought the heart of God?

Our Lord was fully aware of His Father's

mission for Him.

Through temptations and abuse,

 Jesus never wavered.

Can we not concede victory to Satan?

Through the grace of our Lord,

we preserve the will to achieve

our mission with renewed inspiration.

All glory and honor to God through Jesus, His son.

SEEING JESUS

Jesus is everywhere.

He summons us from near and far.

With a wave of His glorious hand,

He welcomes us into His loving presence.

He beckons us to become disciples

of His word and fishers of men.

Should we not walk in His paths of righteousness?

Believe in Jesus and in His ever present existence, always.

LAITY

Laity summons commitment,

commitment to God's ministry.

To serve the Lord with gladness

must start with you and me.

The church is not only mortar and brick.

It is not just stained-glass and wood.

The church is built with Christian love

from hearts so pure and good.

 From the cornerstone's edge

to the top of the steeple,

the church's foundation

is the strength of its people.

WAITING TO HEAR

Let not the night be silent.

Reach up to Heaven and speak to God.

For He is waiting to hear your prayers.

 Do not relinquish this occasion

 to pour out your heart.

Surrender your proud and boastful spirit

and submit to God's word and His will

 for your life.

For He will mold us into the Disciples

He has set forth in His glorious plan.

Let not the flame burn out

and the sun set without first giving

your life to Christ

. From this night forward, live for God's

kingdom and trust in His Son, Jesus Christ.

From the depths of your soul, praise Him.

For He is waiting to hear from you, now.

IN HEAVEN

In Heaven, tears are no more.

Grief, sorrow and pain are abandoned.

Scars are erased and scattered away.

Our Lord Jesus carries the only scars

 evident in Heaven.

There, we shall see the nail prints in His hands

and the scar in His side.

Left as a constant reminder of the ultimate

sacrifice He made for us all, we bow in

 humble adoration to Him.

All will be revealed in Heaven

as we come to understand His will.

Be not afraid of passing on.

For Jesus is waiting to welcome us into

His loving kingdom in Heaven.

A POEM OF PRAISE

Lord, I will praise your name unto the hills of my youth.

With out-stretched arms will I proclaim your truth.

Others despair me with their arrogance and pride.

Daily, I long to move closer, so much closer to your side.

As I wander through your creation, I revel in your mirth.

Your hills are majestic, your plains blanket the earth.

Cool streams of soft water cascade down from the ridge.

Your flowers adorn meadows, while your trees shadow a bridge.

Listening to the birds as they nest in gardens that entwine.

I continue to marvel in my heart and my mind.

Lying down, I rest my thoughts upon this stone with care.

My eyes drink in what my Lord has abundantly shared.

Whether I live of whether I die, my strength is in you, Lord.

My lips will praise your name as I, with you, are in one accord.

Lifting my eyes and heart upon the brightness of your throne,

I know that my journey consists of my Savior and I, alone.
